Cryogenics remains a key enabling technology for a broad range of space applications.Over several decades, the European Space Agency (ESA) has established a strong heritage in the development and application of cryogenic systems, successfully implementing them in numerous spaceflight missions spanning Earth Observation, Science and Exploration and Space Transportation. Today, ESA continues to advance the state of the art through a wide range of cryogenics developments to meet new challenges and enable new potential applications. This presentation will provide an overview of ESA's cryogenic heritage, highlight past, current, and future ESA missions employing cryogenic technologies, and discuss ongoing developments that will support the next generation scientific discovery, exploration and space transportation systems.
